The audio sampling rate of a digital file is how many samples of audio are included in each second. In general, the more samples in each second the higher the quality of a spots audio. Samples are typically measured in KHz and the standard for broadcast video is 48 KHz or 48,000 samples each second.
Examples and Possible Solutions
In Spotloader we require that spots follow the broadcast standard audio sampling rate of 48 KHz. Files with lower sampling rates may not have acceptable audio quality and will need to be re-encoded with a higher sampling rate
Example:
Audio sampling rate set to 44.1 KHz. Must be 48 KHz.
Possible Solution:
44.1 KHz is typically a standard sampling rate for audio only files but is considered low for digital video.
Solution: re-encode this spot with a 48 KHz audio sampling rate
Example:
Audio sampling rate set to 24 KHz. Must be 48 KHz.
Possible Solution:
24 KHz is half the recommended sampling rate and may have poor or unnatural sounding audio.
Solution: re-export the source file with a sampling rate of 48 KHz.
Solution: re-encode the 24 KHz spot with a higher sampling rate. Note that this will not improve the spots audio quality but will allow it to pass validation.
